About Me

Although I prefer to put thoughts down on paper during my free time, the majority of my writing takes place at school mostly because of the writing assignments I am given. When I do write on my own time it’s not really addressed to anybody because the content is for my eyes only. However during school, the writing is also for myself but it’s an assignment that has to be read and graded. When I do write for school, I write for myself but it’s also to whom it may concern, might be a piece for a senator, the mayor, Anne Frank, regardless it’s to a specific person or situation but generally for my teacher to read. I also tend to use different kinds of writing for different audiences, because the type of writing has to go with a specific message or point I am trying to get across.

I write while keeping in mind of all the possible vocabulary, sentence structures, and tones I could perhaps apply to my writing. Before I write, I mentally brainstorm, and after the piece seems to be coming together I go back and review my work and fix errors. I enjoy writing when I know and can relate to a topic, because then I have plenty to say. I dislike writing when it comes to historical topics because you have to apply facts and words that aren’t yours, and there’s no fun in that. It’s simply restating facts that have already been said or read somewhere else. On the other hand, being confident about a topic helps me engage with the piece I’m working on, because all my notion and thoughts would just be pouring out of my brain. The kind of writing I believe I will be doing sometime in the future as a citizen of this society will be formal, according to my future plan of applying to colleges. I also plan to elaborate ideas as best as I can, and make my point across which is what I have learned about writing. Ever since I first learned how to write my name, alongside I began to learn about parallel sentences, proper grammar, proper format, etc., within the 11 years of school I have completed and the one I am currently in. I can also tell the difference between proper and poor writing, as well as recognizing my own weaknesses I face as a writer, which are conclusions. I can fix this by going to my peers for help but I chose to work on it myself, challenging my brain to dig deeper and see the bigger picture is what I do.

Ambitions I have for myself include of increasing my use of vocabulary, and learn everything there is to know about writing. An unpleasant memory of my early writing would have to be incorrect use of connotations in a piece, which I learned from. It also changed my attitude towards writing itself, by making sure I know how to use words correctly in my writing so it makes sense. I don’t recall any unpleasant memories about my writing in general but I do know it’s something I intend to work on, just like every other subject I aim to strengthen in which are all areas and subjects, English being one of them.
